Finance is and always will be a relationship stressor!

Finance ranks with infidelity in divorce courts.

Let's face it: without money, or more civilly phrased as 'finances', the quality of life for anyone in America is grim at best! In this society of instant relationships: join a dating site, post your profile, meet your 'match' and get married [that's about as close to add hot water and stir as one can get], reasons for divorce can be just as shallow as those for getting married.

Yet, the number of people that are marrying for the right reasons still appears to have the lead in the race to matrimony. My point? Even for those that are marrying in order to form the most intimate of societal bonds with the intent of being married for their natural lifetime, certain universal stressors are a fact of life. Money or the lack thereof is one of those facts.

How each partner relates to money/finances often cannot be truly appreciated until the chips are down and once a household budget hits a downward spiral, even the most disciplined and/or most flexible persons can succumb to the panic caused by uncertainty of how and where the next meal is coming from! For those that don't hit that rock bottom lack of money place, many persons that are part of a couple react to a lessning of income as though their next meal is uncertain which is the reason money ranks as high as infidelity in divorce courts. A lack of trust or faith that one will be supported whether economically, emotionally, physically or mentally is a sure fire deal breaker in many relationships -- including marriage.

Where in a more stable national economic climate the inclination to stick it out or work through an unforeseen money crisis can prevail, during a national and global calamity, the traditional resources are strained and overwhelmed which can and often does heighten an already perceived doomed marital outcome.

So while only a courageous few will admit to the loss or lack of money as being the cause of break up, the over worked cliche "irreconcilable differences" all too frquently takes center stage when dollars and sense don't add up.
